Winter in Minnesota doesn’t have to be something you just “get through.” At Sauna Camp, we set up wood-fired saunas right on the frozen surface of Lake Independence and pair them with cold plunges in the lake itself. It’s about embracing the season, finding community, and having fun outdoors.

You don’t have to be a seasoned sauna pro to join in — whether it’s your first time or your hundredth, you’ll fit right in. Some people stop by once for a date night or family outing, while others grab a membership and make it part of their regular routine.

How it works:

  • Step 1: Warm up in one of our several wood-fired saunas placed on the shores of a frozen lake. We have temperatures that vary usually from 170-200 degrees fahrenheit.

  • Step 2: Cool down your way take a plunge through a hole that we hand-carve out of the frozen lake. You will be able to stand and touch the bottom of the lake bed with your feet so don't worry about swimming capabilities. Are you not quite ready for a cold plunge? You can always roll around in the snow or just stand outside in the below-freezing air to more slowly cool off.

Watch the steam rise off your skin as you step out of the sauna, the frozen lake stretching out in front of you, laughter and conversation carrying through the crisp air. Some folks are braving the plunge, others are hanging back, and everyone is cheering each other on.

At its core, Sauna Camp is about connection, challenge, and enjoying winter together with people you know and love, or maybe some new friends you made just that day!

Sauna Camp might seem like Only a retreat, but...

it actually is a memberships and day passes-based experience for individuals who are looking for regular challenges and connections around the Twin Cities. It's a place where personal growth and community thrive. Whether you're a seasoned sauna-goer or a first-timer, Sauna Camp welcomes everyone to embrace the beauty of the frozen Minnesota landscape and try something you have never done before.

People can come one time for a fun date night or a family outing, or you can become a member and come every day, all season!
